PEDIGREE NOTES
It must have been more than disappointing for the connections, as in the juvenile
year, HONOURS LIST out-rated subsequent classic winners Galileo, Black
Minnaloushe, Imagine, Vinnie Roe, King Charlemagne or Milan.
The ending of this brief but unusually precocious career signals the
commencement of another which also promises to be successful if his pedigree is
any guide.
HONOURS LIST is from the stakes winning French mare Gold Script, a daughter of
the little known son of Roberto, Script Ohio. HONOURS LIST is the product of strong
line breeding and what appears to be a carefully planned mating.
His second dam Quiet Thoughts has a very powerful pedigree. She is a Group
3 winner daughter of Champion Sprinter, Thatching, who is linebred 4f x 5f
to prepotent matriarch DALMARY, his sire Thatch also being a family member.
Adding to this family reinforcement, Quiet Thoughts’ dam Fleet Serenade is by
Lorenzaccio. He is also a descendant of Dalmary, whose granddaughter Erica
Fragrans is common to both Lorenzaccio and Thatching.
NUREYEV, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, OPEN DAY, the three brothers
TATE GALLERY, SADLER’S WELLS and FAIRY KING, plus other
influences Val De Loir, Ridan, Windsor Slipper, Fox Myth and Reform are
members of this family, which, when present in broodmare pedigrees, can further
reinforce the three lines to Dalmary in Honours List.
Sons of SADLER’S WELLS or his brothers look great with HONOURS LIST. While
reinforcing the DALMARY family, they also carry Bold Reason – a half brother to
Never Bend, who is Script Ohio’s damsire. Bold Reason’s other link with Script
Ohio is that his sire Hail to Reason is also the grandsire of Script Ohio.
GEIGER COUNTER’s daughters are also appealing – he is a son of Mr.
Prospector, who has a great record with Danzig and his son Danehill. Fusaichi
Pegasus for example, is by Danzig out of a Mr. Prospector mare. Flying Spur is by
Danehill out of a Mr. Prospector mare.
Script Ohio traces directly to TERESINA, who appears twice in other parts of
HONOURS LIST's via his duplication of FLOWER BOWL – a daughter of Teresina’s
son, Alibhai.
This is also the family of WAAJIB, Pakistan II, Turkhan and Ujiji. Turkhan is
present in the pedigree of NOBLE BIJOU. Mares by this sire look very
interesting with HONOURS LIST. Apart from boosting the TERESINA line, Noble
Bijou is a descendant of LA TROIENNE, reinforcing fellow family member
Buckpasser (second damsire of Danehill). Additionally, Noble Bijou’s dam is a
daughter of Hail to Reason. This feature ‘sex balances’ the son of Hail to Reason
– Roberto – in HONOURS LIST.
Getting back to Flower Bowl – she is represented by His Majesty in Danehill and
Graustark in Gold Script as the second damsire of Script Ohio. Flower Bowl is a
granddaughter of BOUDOIR, who can also be accessed by mares carrying
WHISKEY ROAD, Crowned Prince (present in ZEDITAVE and PRINCE
ECHO) and OUR POETIC PRINCE.
The latter looks particularly good when partnered with HONOURS LIST. Our Poetic
Prince’s third dam is a half sister to Flower Bowl. In addition to reinforcing this
important family, Our Poetic Prince is by Yeats, who, as discussed above, is a
member of the DALMARY family, Yeats’ dam being a full sister to Thatch.
